Introducing Edith Berntson of Just Bread Inc.

Edith joined the Regina Farmers' Market for the first time in the holiday season of 2021 and let us know she planned to be back! Based in Glen Ewen, Edith divides her time between Estevan and Regina Farmers' Market to provide the local community with her handmade sourdough options. When she first moved to Saskatchewan she realized she missed the bread she grew up with in Germany and set out to make her own. Edith makes her starter from scratch and bakes old fashioned, healthy sourdough bread. Water, flour and salt. That's all. And sometimes she adds some super seeds for extra benefits or cheese like parmesan, cheddar or Asiago for extra flavour.

The RFM is very glad Edith has shared her family recipes with the Saskatchewan community! Nothing quite beats the classic market staple of a European Artisan loaf of bread. With a variety of flavours to choose from, be sure to stop by Edith's booth or order online!

Practices
Edith sources her whole grain berries locally from organic farms. The wheat is produced by Moose Creek Organic Farm near Oxbow, they also grow spelt just a mile east of JUST BREAD bakery. The rye grows in the prairie sun on Douglaston Fram in the RM of Moose Creek. Ancient organic grains are sourced from Daybreak Mill, located by North Portal: they provide JUST BREAD with organic kamut, blue barley, millet, durum, red fife and flax.
